Major Richard Skelton's Journal, Issue 11

2nd of September, 1814 A.D.
Arrived in Dei King. We are getting our boat careened...preparing to set off in search of Blackbeard's "haunted ship". I have been studying the journal of the once prisoner of Blackbeard in hopes of finding a clue to defeating Blackbeard... Our only hope is the suggestion that Blackbeard's power is tied to that of the Destroyer, and that to remove him from his ship would render Blackbeard less potent...

8th of September
We set sail today...and come nightfall we saw a man o' war on the horizon...The Destroyer.

We closed with the dread ship, and raised the jolly roger on her. In the opening shots, we fared well - our ship was smaller, with less guns, but more nimble, and we got behind Blackbeard's ship...roasting it with our masthead, and taking down a mast with our bowchaser. I believe those initial moments of triumph helped to hearten the crew. But then Blackbeard's ship...it began to heal. The masts raised themselves back into position. We knew there was no way to defeat it like this, and so with the consent of the Destroyer, we closed for ship to ship combat.

There must have been well over two hundred of the undead aboard Blackbeard's ship, and us with a little over a dozen marines plus the officers. Several of our marines were quickly taken down by the sickly gas the zombie pirates poured over us - and many of those who fell rose within seconds, but this time on blackbeard's side! I summoned two Fire Elementals aboard the Destroyer, and set them to cremating the restless dead, while I called one Earth elemental to myself to help defend the ship against the zombies who were then coming on in waves.

As expected, it was Karn's strength that made the battle winable. He swung over into the midst of the hoarde, immediately engaging the dread Blackbeard himself. Aquillikae, Ash, and a detachment of marines also attempted to fight their way through the hoarde towards the pirate captain, but only nimble Ash managed to dodge his way very close at all. Meanwhile, myself and Blackpowder Pete stayed aboard decks, trying to hold off the zombies while my fire elementals spread havoc aboard the Destroyer. The Frenchman postured and pranced.

Karn accomplished the most amazing feat of valour - grabbing Blackbeard bodily, he swung by rope across to our ship, delivering Blackbeard onto our ship. I believe it was then that Blackbeard realized the trouble he was in, taking a shot at me as he exclaimed "I may not be able to kill the Red Man, but I'll go down killing English!" Maribeau disarmed Blackbeard, and my earth elemental handed the sword off to Aquillikae as Maribeau, Karn, and Aquillikae struck at Blackbeard...who then fled into the water, pursued by Karn and Aquillikae...but it was Ash who dove from the other side of the ship who intercepted Blackbeard just before he reached the safety of his own ship, and put an end to Blackbeard once and for all. With their captain dead, the zombie crew lost cohesion and disentigrated - the Destroyer quickly following suit.

We gathered much booty from the Destroyer, including a magical but cursed flag that healed the ship, Blackbeard's brace of six magical pistols, a magical ring and, most importantly - the Sword of the King. We then set out to return to Lollenaise and complete our deal with the other devil...

En route, Carifax landed on our ship in a flurry of feathers. He said that Tressa had been captured by Torquemada...we continued on, now with the additional goal of rescuing Tressa...but soon our hopes were dashed as Carifax spoke with Tressa's voice... "Torquemeda has won, but the Sea Hags have lost. Find my heart, crush it in your fist, & you will have unlimited power for 19 minutes - the number of days of torture I endured at Torquemeda's hands." We know now that we must find Isle a Dios - both to retrieve Tressa's heart and defeat the Archmage...and so that we might have revenge on Torquemeda.

Our bargin with Lollenaise was almost completed smoothly - he wanted all our booty but the sword, and to be honest, he's welcome to it. But he also insisted on Blackbeard's body, which Pete was willing to die to keep - and Karn almost killed him. We're all lucky to still be alive as we make our escape...and begin our hunt for Torquemeda. Assuming the traitorous Karn and the Frenchman don't kill us first...

Major Richard Skelton's Journal, Issue 10

19th of August, 1814 A.D.
We set sail, now with a pirate crew of Lollenaise's furnishing. We committed our first act of piracy today - we spotted a Dutch merchant vessel, fired a couple of shots off at it, and they raised the white flag. They didn't have too much for booty, however. The crew, bloodthirsty as they are, wanted to kill off all of the merchant's crew, but Aquillikae held them at bay.

20th of August
We dropped off the merchant vessel's sailors in a dingy within sight of Swindon. Good luck to the poor chaps.

23rd of Ausugst
We stopped in Azy Cay. Most of the crew went ashore for ale and whores. I spent the time aboard ships on watch.

24th of August
We decided to set sale for Shark Bay, in hopes of finding a place to sell our captured Dutch ship.

25th of August
We encountered another Chinese war junk. With the aid of our enchanted masthead, we burned and sank their ship. Aquillikae was able to dive down and retrieve some of their loot, however. We also captured several of the Chinamen, saved from drowning.

26th of August
We sailed by Bluth's Crown today. We decided it best not to stop in.

28th of August
We arrived in Shark Bay today. We managed to sell our prize for a decent penny. We also met a wonderful man named O'Brian, who distills Great White Grog - perhaps the most potent drink I've ever encountered in my life. I have a vague awareness that a lot of other stuff happened in the next couple of days, but, sadly(or perhaps fortunately?), I remember none of it.

31st of August
We set sail for Dei King. We spotted Duckworth's fleet, but nimbly avoided the pirate hunter, thank the Lord.

1st of September
While heading north, we saw a ghost ship, a ghostly galleon gliding across the water...we bravely, or perhaps foolishly, moved to engage. It was a very close battle, as the ghostly sailors could only be harmed by magic, leaving only myself, Aquillikae, and Karn able to hurt them. Oh, and that odd Chinese boxer, who apparantly has magic fists... Anyway, it was close. I summoned a fire elemental and an earth elemental, while Aquillikae blasted with fire and did his best to keep the others safe, while Karn just destroyed anything that got near him. In the end, I was barely conscious, Aquillikae and Frenchie were on death's door, and only Karn was mostly uninjured.
